The Columbia Valley offers visitors the chance to experience wildlife in person, endless outdoor activities – for the adventurous type or not, scenic vistas and views, copious dining options and world-class golf along the Columbia Valley Golf Trail. During the summer months the Columbia Valley is bustling with farmer’s markets, festivals and arts and culture events. At the centre of the Columbia Valley lies Lake Windermere – with water temperatures reaching 21 Celsius (70 Fahrenheit) in the peak of summer, two public beaches and plenty of choices for renting watercraft – there’s plenty to experience at the lake!

The Village of Radium Hot Springs is pedestrian friendly and offers visitors a traditional small town experience with shopping along main street. Friday nights throughout the summer months in Radium Hot Springs feature live music and a farmer’s market right in the heart of the Village. Be sure to stop by the visitor’s information centre (just next to the Mountain Market) for answers to all of your questions about the area!

LAKE WINDERMERE

Boating, swimming, canoeing or relaxing on the beach. Lake Windermere’s picturesque scenery and warm temperatures make for the perfect family retreat.

HIKING

Hiking is where it’s at in the Columbia Valley. Hundreds of trails cover thousands of miles and take the outdoor enthusiast into spectacular country.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Discover smooth single track through valley forests, epic descents from alpine peaks, challenging technical downhill trails, relaxed recreational routes and exciting bike park maintained trails.

RAFTING

Whether a class 3 rapids adventure is your style or a leisurely float sounds more appealing, the three local rivers offer rafting choices for everyone. Family friendly!

ATV TOURS

The Columbia Valley has thousands of miles of forest service roads and deactivated logging roads for ATV use. Get up to some of the old mines and into some spectacular country. The views are amazing.

TOUR THE WETLANDS

The Columbia Valley Wetlands are the longest continuous wetlands on the continent. Its 26,000 hectares are home to over 265 species of birds, a true attraction for bird watchers and photographers. Canoe or kayak tours are available.

HORSEBACK RIDING

Experience a slice of pioneer life while trekking on horseback through the valley. Guided tours can be arranged with experienced guides and horses, and can accommodate short or even overnight trips.

The seasonal farmers’ markets spring up during the summer in Golden, Edgewater, Radium Hot Springs, Invermere, Fairmont Hot Springs, Kimberley and Cranbrook.
